Astronomy Simulator

Just finished setting up our Facebook account and would appreciate feedback on the site and hopefully some likes :) Our goal is to get as many people interested in this program as possible and to get ideas as to what everyone would like to see in the final game. Also, here is an early snapshot of  gameplay, the character is a standin and was supplied by 3DBuzz as part of a 3D Controller Tutorial they have at their site. In the photos below we are showing off the day/ night transition.

Astronomy Simulator MMO builds on two previous games that were released on the Xbox 360 Indie Games Channel (Dark Skies: Constellations and Dark Skies: Messier). This time around we are creating a virtual world where players create a character to be in the game and have full movement to walk around and chat with other players and to get pointers on finding objects while star gazing. Amateur Astronomy

Probably one of the most difficult things to overcome when picking up Astronomy or just wanting to impress loved ones with your nighttime navigating skills is to identify constellations and that is where a Astronomy Games can help. For me this was without a doubt the most difficult thing to overcome and why our goal is to create Astronomy Games to help learn the sky!

With all the new technology on today’s telescopes these days many people think that just turning on the Auto-Align feature and walking away for another hot cup of coffee is all that is required to enjoy astronomy. After all, isn’t technology supposed to make things easier for us? In my experience this has been the greatest downfall to Amateur Astronomy and instead of potentially indoctrinating millions of new members into this exciting hobby we have instead created a short lived fling into the field with new hobbyist either frustrated by not being able to align their equipment or worst yet just hopping from one celestial gem to the next without taking the time to take it all in.
